About Haiku.
Our chefs prepare every entree fresh so you can be assured you receive the very best quality, as well as the absolute best talent in your meal. We first opened in 2011, and have provided the Drake neighborhood with amazing sushi and Asian fusion dishes for almost a decade. Our hand-crafted sushi rolls, paired with daily specials, make Haiku a great spot for all occasions, including birthdays, job outings, and even special events such as wedding receptions. We still take pride in being a sleek lounge with clubby blue lighting, a full bar, sushi rolls & familiar Asian cuisine every single day.
Haiku is an exciting new dining option for not only Drake students and West Village residents, but for the entire Des Moines community. The menu offers a mix of Japanese, Thai, and Chinese dishes ranging from appetizers to entrees, as well as various sushi options. Prices fall anywhere from $7 per sushi roll to over $20 for steak and seafood entrees. In the near future, students will be able to use their Bulldog Bucks at the restaurant. Signature items include the Haiku Roll and the Drake Roll. There is also a full bar. “It started as a vision to create something out of the ordinary,” said Ken Lin, Haiku owner and manager. “The concept then became about providing something unique for Drake students, as well as the Des Moines community.”
The Job
Local sushi spot Haiku opened its doors back in 2011 in the heart of the Drake University neighborhood. They had a great following from local residents and college students alike. After the initial first few years of success, the clientele slowed down. It was rough during the summer months especially, as a lot of their customers live around campus.
After speaking with the owners, it was time to get to work. They needed a brand new sleek website, that not only captivated viewers but was easy to maintain and update. With these goals in mind, Driving Cap got to work!
The Results
Our strategy for this build was to help expand Haiku’s digital footprint, and improve its mark in the Des Moines Metro area as a great place for great sushi. One significant part surrounded our abilities to measure and track their site’s overall metrics, including locations of users, page durations, and perhaps most importantly the number of visitors to the website overall. During the initial consultation, Haiku gave amazing insight as to the overall feel of the old website, and problems that have had to deal with in the past. This is a very crucial stage of the process, as our website developers love to have as much feedback as possible before beginning construction.
Content development, including search engine optimization, was done during the website’s building process, so content added to the website was appropriate and helped reach timeline goals for the build. Simultaneously, our SEO Gurus developed keywords and imagery to boost the performance of the site on all search engines.
In the end, Haiku’s goals were all accomplished, and their business has only been improved by their website.
